The Osaka University UNESCO Chair Global Health and Education (GHE) aims to promote the health of children and young people in schools and communities globally. Together with our partners in Asia, Africa, Oceania, the Americas, and Europe, we are working to develop the knowledge base in the fields of health education and health promotion, and to interpret and disseminate this knowledge. Our activities are intended to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, especially those pertaining to health and education. We are working closely with the Chair GHE at the University of Clermont Auvergne on a number of projects.
One of the key missions of the Osaka University UNESCO Chair GHE is the creation and bringing together of research evidence in the field. Another mission is tailored dissemination of this evidence to those who can best utilize it to promote health. We conduct interdisciplinary research based on a social design for health concept. We seek partners, both from within and outside institutes of higher education, to work together with us in investigations and interventions. We welcome inquiries through the contact form.
Another of our missions of the Osaka University UNESCO Chair GHE is to create teaching and learning spaces where the next generation can think about and gain skills in health promotion in the global arena. In the 2020 Academic Year, we are launching a Graduate Program for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies entitled “Global Health and Education: A Social Design for Health.” We are also engaging with the World Wide Learning Consortium which connects Osaka University with high schools in Osaka Prefecture. In addition to collaborators from institutes of higher education, we seek partner schools to collaborate with us in considering the future of health education and health promotion. We welcome inquires through the contact form.
The Osaka University UNESCO Chair GHE conducts symposiums and seminars on an as-needed basis, in addition to open events welcoming participants from both within and outside Osaka University. We also dispatch lecturers to present at symposiums and seminars.
The UNESCO Chair project increase the capacities of institutions of higher education and research through the exchange of knowledge. By promoting international linkages and collaborations at institutes of higher education, the Chairs serve as think tanks for human and material resources. We aim to serve as the bridge between institutes of higher education and researcher, local communities, and policymakers.
